A brilliant cross promotional campaign bringing together Banana Republic and Mad Men to both sell the style of the show as well as promote the upcoming season. This is the kind of multi-channel and multi-dimension engagement that is the future of effective marketing.
Somewhere modern day Don Drapers are sitting around and thinking about how to build the next one of these synergistic brand relationships. I can't wait to see what kind of campaign metrics come out of this effort.
Via Ad Age:
"Euro, which already handles Heineken USA's fast-growing Dos Equis brand, won the Heineken Lager and Heineken Premium Light accounts following a review involving Heineken's existing roster shops, including incumbent Wieden & Kennedy, StrawberryFrog and TBWA/Chiat/Day.
Euro learned of its victory in the pitch when a Heineken beer truck arrived at the agency and began unloading beer for a victory party."
This article in Ad Age looks at a recent study of social networking by Anderson Analytics and is a fascinating look into how our social networking habits reflect our interests in the offline world. The demographic information generally reflects things I’ve seen before, but the psychographic stuff is where it gets really interesting. The look at the Twitter is of particular interest.
On Twitter users:
“This is the super-user group. Twitterers are more
interested than the others in many subjects but skew particularly high in all
news categories, restaurants, sports, politics, personal finance and religion.
They also especially like pop culture, with music, movies, TV and reading,
ranking higher than average. And their buying habits mirror that. They're more
likely to buy books, movies, shoes and cosmetics online than the other groups.
Twitterers are also entrepreneurial. They are more likely than others to use the service to promote their blogs or businesses.”
This suggests to me that Twitter usage may be a useful proxy when targeting online media and I also can’t shake the idea that Twitter users maybe some kind of hybrid between Gladwell’s Mavens and Connectors.
This article is a fascinating look at Palin during and after the campaign. I'm just hoping the Repubs are willing to roll the dice on her again.
