This amazing phenomenon is detailed in this article. It's amazingly beautiful and makes me wonder: what the hell is he building in there?
This is a very interesting article that examines how mirrors alter our notions of self and the way we perceive ourselves within our environment. The whole article is very interesting and worth a read but I've pulled out a couple of pieces that I thought were especially compelling:
"The link between self-awareness and elaborate sociality may help explain why the few nonhuman species that have been found to recognize themselves in a mirror are those with sophisticated social lives."
"Our research shows that people, on average, resolve that ambiguity in their favor, forming a representation of their image that is more attractive than they actually are."
"People who sleep between 6.5 hours and 7.5 hours a night ... live the longest ... There is just as much risk associated with sleeping too long as with sleeping too short. The big surprise is that long sleep seems to start at 8 hours. Sleeping 8.5 hours might really be a little worse than sleeping 5 hours."
